Kids and loss.
It's just a tough combination.
Less than a week after the tragedy in Meron, and two weeks after the shooter in West Hempstead, our HANC kiddos are sifting through the secondary loss being experienced by their teacher, Ms. Madigan, whose parents and sister were killed in a fire this morning.
The school will have grief counseling available, but right now they're just sad and feeling lost.
I offered hugs. A talk. Listening. But I know it's just going to take time to settle back to feeling secure in the world again.
And my heart aches for them.
